Gravilux - Scott Sona Snibbe

Gravilux is a work of interactive software art for the iPhone and iPad. With each touch in Gravilux, you exert a gravitational pull on a world of simulated stars. Though inspired by Newton's equations for gravity, Gravilux doesn't follow our universe's laws.

Gravilux is a combination of drawing, animation, art, science, and gaming. Gravilux was first released in 1998 as a work of interactive art that was only available in galleries and museums. Now it is available as an iPhone and iPad application. Gravilux was created for the iPhone and iPad with the help of openFrameworks.

Coding with charcoal

Part Of You from zenbullets on Vimeo.

Short ambient video for Hessien by Matt Pearson. The track is from Hessien’s debut album. This pencil/charcoal effect achieved with code is particularly interesting to me. I am interested in the tension between analogue and digital. The point where the two sides meet. This piece manages to give an analogue effect using code. Really nice.

Matt Pyke, creator of the graphic design studio Universal Everything, is holding a solo exhibition in Paris’s new digital arts venue La Gaîté Lyrique from April 21st to June 1st.

The show, titled Matt Pyke & Friends: Super Computer Romantics, has been specially created over two years and brings together international collaborative work that promises: Infinite mirrors, solar power driven rotations, unending journeys through countrysides, rotating sculptures, films, sound creations, transformative paintings, virtual installations… this exhibition draws us into the artist’s original, magical and theatrical universe and allows us to enter into a subtle and rich relationship with the new technologies.

Generative Art by Matt Pearson

Ive bitten the bullet and paid to download this book from the publishers website. I've been waiting for the release for months now. Its been postponed again and again and again. This is the first book (that I have found) specifically about generative art. Im super excited about reading it. This will underpin my research for my MA.

Publishers Description.

Artists have always explored new media, and computer-based artists are no exception. Generative art, an emerging technique where print or onscreen images are created by use of computer algorithms, finds the artistic intersection between programming, computer graphics, and individual expression.

Generative Art presents both the technique and the beauty of algorithmic art. In it, you’ll find dozens of high-quality examples of generative art, along with the specific programmatic steps author and artist Matt Pearson followed to create each unique piece. The book includes concise tutorials for each of the technical components required to create the book’s examples, and it offers countless suggestions for how you can combine and reuse the various techniques to create your own works.

This is a greatest sleeping bag. You can wear it to sleep when you go camping. It is safe that no bear will attack your camp and eat you? Or you just want to wear it, and then scare your friend when he(she) wake up in the morning.(a good idea!) Well made and Cool! By artist Eiko Ishizawa.
